Please look up how to get your email program to behave properly. Things will look better and work more smoothly, and not just on this list. Also, your outgoing messages to others will be less likely to be falsely flagged as spam. It's not true that that limits you to English. Seven-bit ASCII was long ago extended to the LATIN-1 or ISO-8859-1 code which contains diacritics and punctuation sufficient to represent all western European languages. So if you want to post plain text in Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, German, or Latin, go for it. The list will work fine, but of course I can't guarantee that all subscribers can read your preferred language, but only that it will appear as it should on their screens. (I saw at least three WSFA members -- one of whom was giving out Capclave bookmarks -- at a party on Saturday, at which there was also a Latin teacher who was fluent in several languages.) Unfortunately, the list won't support Japanese, Russian, Hebrew, Greek, or Arabic. Neither can it be used for posting sounds or pictures. It is what it is, and I think it fills a useful niche.
