I'd been introduced to an Aeropress last spring, and have been wanting
to try one. As no one got me one as a present, I just bought one. I also
have wanted to do something, since one of the women in the office where
we keep our kettle is very strongly bothered by the smell of coffee (we
all drink tea).
Ignore the advertising, it is not the Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread.
It tries to make a concentrate, but I started out wondering at this
"10-20 sec" in the filter part, then "water it down". And it wants twice
as much coffee as normal. And finer grind. I put the milk in first,
while the water's heating. I'm still trying to figure how much milk.
First try, ah, yeah, weak office coffee. I then poured some of the
coffee back through. Office coffee. Didn't need the plunger; by the time
I was upstairs, it had already all dripped through just about.
Try two: pour the two units of water in, stir, and walk out towards the
stairs up to my office. Pour the rest of the water through the filter,
also. Slightly better, nothing to write home about.
Try three: use two filters, to slow down the water going through. Two
units in, stir, walk out. Pour rest of water in, and get up to my
office. Stir, and finally use the plunger. Results acceptable.
When I finish this can of Cafe du Mond, I'll try some Hispanic espresso
grind, and see how it goes.

at least a connoiseur"
