It's possible that those in charge of the press release think that
usenet is dead. It's not a news publication anyway, so a "press"
release wouldn't go there, right? It's for "press" people. If there
are any left.

Perhaps we should be giving up on that old tech, and going with the
current method of reaching people? I.e. make a Youtube video. No video
production skills are needed...shaky cameras, bad sound, poor focus,
absolutely no scripting or pre-planning, and existing light are the norm.

We can ignore the fact that our intended audience *READS*. It wouldn't
be very modern of us to actually think about how our methods relate to
our audience...I think that idea went out with "press" people.

On the other hand, I suspect that a fair portion of past Capclave
attendees do use e-mail, and might be interested in getting
announcements and info about future Capclaves that way. Unlike the old
days, there's no need for "envelope stuffing parties", or reams of
labels, or even a Cheshire machine...a few button pushes with the right
software/ISP setup and you are done. This assumes that we got an e-mail
address from them...or set up a way on the Capclave website for them to
give us one (and have some screening in place to make sure it's
valid...well known methods for this exist).
