I have *never* felt anything like it in my life. I'm hearing that, as I
remembered, not only does no one remember one this strong, but there's
no records of anything like this, *ever* (at least in millions of years).

The floor in my first floor office rolled. I thought "a truck?
construction dropped something? an explosion? EARTHQUAKE!", and, glad I
was in a reinforced concrete building, got out, fast. So did about half
the building, and some from the next building....

We were released, but I and my co-worker and boss were there a while: a
chilled water pipe on the third or fourth floor burst, and one of the
HVAC guys I know went by, soaked head to waist.

The three of us did an orderly shutdown of all but one server (the one
we always leave up, with spot coolers aimed in its direction).

We'll see if the building's open tomorrow.

Nothing fell at home, everything fine.

If wealth == power and if power corrupts, and absolute power
corrupts absolutely, what is the effect of monopolies and
billionaires on democracy?
