For those who don't know him - he gafiated some years ago - Dan was a very sweet, gentle
man.  I last saw him at a Balticon some years back and at the time he was in good
spirits, simply mentioning that he'd been ill for a while but was doing better.

Although I haven't seen him in a while I somehow assumed that he'd just show up again at
some point, the way he did at that Balticon.  I'm still trying to encompass the fact
that he won't.
