Indeed he was, but he had definitely not gafiated.  He quietly
dropped out of WSFA as did many others, but he still went to cons
regularly, he still wrote for fanzines, he still posted regularly to
rec.arts.sf.fandom, and he still regularly attended PRSFS.  He hosted
July's PRSFS meeting, which I attended, in his apartment on Q Street.

(Those of us who aren't quite as sweet or gentle dropped out of WSFA
more noisily.  The fact that some followups to my post were apparently
only posted to the Yahoo list is evidence that WSFA still hasn't
changed for the better.)

He had to have his spleen removed a decade ago, which forced him to
withdraw his offer to help with the first Capclave.  Other than that
I wasn't aware of any medical problems.  He seemed fine in July.
Obviously there must have been some kind of problem, medical,
financial, or otherwise, but I don't know its nature, and won't
speculate.

I've not yet received word on funeral arrangements.  I'll post them
here when I do.
