50 years ago today, the Gulf of Tonkin incident escalated the Vietnam War.

100 years ago today, Germany attacked Luxembourg, starting World War I.

150 years ago today was the Battle of Mobile Bay.

200 years ago this month was the burning of Washington (the city).

250 years ago last month Washington (the man) surrendered to the
French at the Battle of Fort Necessity.

So by historical standards, this month is actually rather peaceful.
Of course it isn't over yet.

It feels weird that the beginning of the Vietnam War is closer to WWI
than to the present.
