Are they still in their husks?  If they are, they should be handled with
(rubber) gloves.  Otherwise dark stains will appear on the handler's hands.

And of course, once the husks have been removed and the nuts dried out,
they have to be opened.  Hint: those shells are very thick and very
hard.  Use a heavy hammer, a bench vise, or a powered saw.

Some people think the meat is worth it.
