Yes, mostly.  The husks are gradually falling apart.  They look like
fruits that are way past their sell-buy date.  But the nuts inside are
still fine.

An ordinary nutcracker works for me.

I agree.  But there are far more of them than I care to eat in a year,
by which time there will be a fresh crop.
