Hi, folks,
I know I've mentioned this to some of you, but let me make a bid, for
those that haven't put in their Hugo nominees: Paula Goodlet for best editor,
short form. This is her last year of eligibility, since, after 10 years, she
stepped down from editing the Grantville Gazette.
Why I think she deserves a Hugo: because if *anyone* does, she does, since
I think she's been channeling Hugo Gernsback. His original idea was to teach,
and draw, folks to science and engineering through fiction. What she's done
for the ten years, up through this past fall, is just that. These years, the
Grantville Gazette has been literally half fiction, and half non-fiction:
metallurgy, geology, chemistry, farming, food crops, guns and cannons, ship
construction, steelmaking, and on and on.
I think Hugo would have been happy with her.
