Well, I have *no* idea why so many of the publishers gave them in .pdf format
- I mean, that *sucks* on anything but a real monitor, and it terrible on an
ereader. And no, I can't install Calibre (unless someone can point me to a
five year old repo for it, since I run CentOS 6, same as RHEL 6).

Now, that being said, of the novels, I haven't started Uprooted yet,
Stephenson's Severneyes, the first couple hundred pages is mind-bogglingly
slow, and too much like not-great early SF, with lots of stop and explain for
non-SF fans of tech. Then I started Fifth Season.

Ok, I have my #1 for novel. I was blown away. No spoilers here... but it
reminds me of early, pre-Amber Zelazny, like Creatures of Light and Darkness,
and Lord of Light. The writing is amazing, as is the handling of the people,
and the big concepts.
