There have been more than 17,000 messages, but message volumes have dropped greatly in recent years. There's only been one post so far this year (not counting this one), and only one person has posted any messages since September (again, not counting this post). Nobody bothered to mention the deaths of Brian Lewis or Keith Marshall on this list. I learned of their deaths only at conventions. I see on the Capclave website that Capclave finally has a hotel, but nobody bothered to post that on this list either. Are users of this list not wanted at WSFA's con? After I dropped out of the club 12 years ago, the club decided that I shouldn't run the club's official list. Fair enough. But instead of having a member run it, it was given to Yahoo to run. Since that's a notorious spam site, since they harvest and sell personal information without permission, since they're choked with unwanted ads, but most of all because they have outed pro-democracy demonstrators in China to the ruling Communist party so that they could be punished, lots of members, including me, refused to have anything to do with Yahoo, so I kept this list going as a courtesy to them. The choice of Yahoo appears to have been an attempt to hurt me, as I had said it was the only completely unacceptable platform. Instead, it has only hurt the club. I'm willing to keep this list going if there's still any interest. If not, and if the official list has been, or will be, moved away from Yahoo, and isn't moved to a closed members-only platform such as Facebook, I'm amenable to merging this list into the new official list. Otherwise, if there's no interest in my keeping it going, I'll just shut it down. I know how many email addresses posts to the list are sent to, but I have no idea how many real subscribers there are. Nobody has subscribed or unsubscribed in years. (The club is obviously not informing new mambers of the existence of this list, as it's not plausible that not one of them is interested in joining.) Given how few people post here, I suspect that many "current" subscribers have long since killfiled the list, closed their email account, or died. Whatever happens, I will continue to retain the complete list archives at http://KeithLynch.net/wsfa/list/
