I have not yet emailed anyone about Capclave '02. Except Mike Nelson and people on this list. I have not yet posted to any newsgroup about Capclave '02. Except in rec.arts.sf.composition to correct someone's claim that it was to be in Laurel. There has been no mention of Capclave '02 in rasff or any other newsgroup, by anyone. But if people are noticing our web page and informing other people about our con in a non-spammy way, I think that's good. I still don't know why I've been asked to wait. I think it's better to send out announcements now than to send out perfect announcements in, say, November. We announced Capclave '01 nearly a year ahead, but I've run into numerous people who said they would have gone except they didn't hear about it until too late. (In some cases "too late" was before the con, but after they had made other plans.) Capclave '01 got 296 people. At this point I would be very surprised if we get anywhere near that many for '02. I'm pinning my hopes on '03. I think that '03 has great promise if we can keep the same hotel, and if we can announce '03 *during* '02, or earlier. -- Keith F.
