One list I'm on simply appends the following to every message:

  * Copyright: the original sender of this post owns *
  * the copyright on it. You must seek and obtain his *
  * or her permission before using it anywhere except *
  * on the list itself. *

I could do that. (I'm assuming the copyright doens't extend to that
paragraph itself.) Of course some people might find it annoying after
the hundredth time they read it.

I agree that this is what's generally known as a "closed list,"
so messages should not be forwarded outside the list without the
permission of the sender. Except that I would define the list as
all of WSFA, not just those who choose to have it delivered to
their mailbox. Some WSFAns read the messages only in the archives.

Also, my brother reads these messages. He's not a WSFA member, and
has never been to a WSFA meeting, but he was at Fifth Friday last
month, and was at Disclave last millennium, and has graciously agreed
to scan in old WSFA Journals (and has done four so far). He's also
able to post to this list, but that's mainly so that he can inform
everyone if something happens to me.
