Well, yes, I frequently feel evil, but, as an employee of the
Federal Government, I always disguise my base motives as noble endeavours
for the public benefit. "For the children" is the current buzz phrase.
A number of years ago, the British science fiction magazine _2000
AD_ had a well written feature on "The Famous Villains School" which taught
aspiring nogoodniks how to be truly inspiring archfiends. The entrance exam
was, of course, a requirement to take a candy cane away from a baby. There
were lessons on selecting an awesome name, bombastic statements, grand
gestures, costuming (and none of these wimpy Evil Overlord fashion
statements!), and a heavily proctored final exam in which non-cheaters were
expelled. (The secret to laughing heartily while subjecting the hero to
hideous tortures is to think of a funny joke while watching.) There was
also plastic surgery to enhance one's gruesome appearance, and a locator
service that matched the aspring supercrimminal with an "underserved"
population. Something that VillianSupply seems to have overlooked.
