  Subject: [WSFA] Announcement

Okay, I finished *Red Rabbit* yesterday. It will be published around
  5 August.

I am too close to it at the moment to figure how good it is/isn't,
but my editor seems to like it, and that is important, since he
authorizes the check. But I am sure you guys will lash at it with
your linguini noodles. Thanks for your money anyway,

This novel is a fictionalization of a real event. As it turns out, I
have met the real Rabbit--the Agency brought him to my house once,
never mind when, and never mind why.

Nearly everything in the book is quite real, within the rules that
  attend a fictionalization of events.

The book is a radical change of pace for me. I work hard not to
repeat myself. I've repeated myself only once, and that was a
  mistake, albeit a successful one.

The next book under contract will be my most radical change of pace
of all, and the one after that will be similarly off the reservation.

So, you guys can start making your (always inaccurate) observations
of how and why I do things. Please leave the fiction to me unless
you have something to submit to Putnam.
