I am not including any mention of the Harry Potter movie viewing since
nobody ever emailed me the details despite my request.  I think it's
this Saturday evening, somewhere in Maryland.

Sam, you might mention the next month or two's events in the December
Journal, for the benefit those members who aren't on this list and
don't regularly view that web page.

Friday, November 15th: Jonathan Carroll speaks at LoC
       Jonathan Carroll, author of the forthcoming book White Apples,
       speaks at the Library of Congress, Madison Building, LM-G45
       (next to the Snack Bar), at 12:10 pm.

Friday, November 15th: Ursula LeGuin reading
       At 8 pm Ursula LeGuin & Junot Diaz accept the PEN/Faulkner
       award and read at the Folger, 201 East Capitol Street, SE,
       Washington DC, near the Capitol South Metro Station. Tickets
       are $15. See http://penfaulkner.org/. Note that this event
       overlaps a WSFA meeting.

Friday, November 15th: WSFA Third Friday Meeting
       Regular WSFA meeting (at the Ginters' as usual). Newcomers

Saturday, November 16th: Charles Sheffield Funeral
       Charles Sheffield's funeral, at Collins Funeral Home, 500
       University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD, at 1 pm. (301)

       the Beltway. One mile from the Forest Glen Metro station.

Friday, November 22nd: Philosophical Society of Washington talk
       The Philosophical Society of Washington presents "Manned
       Mission to the Mysterious Moons of Mars" by S. Fred Singer,
       President, Science & Environmental Policy Project, at 8:15 pm
       in the John Wesley Powell Auditorium, Cosmos Club, 2170 Florida
       Avenue NW DC, near the Dupont Circle Metro station on the Red
       Line.

Tuesday, November 26th: Tee Morris speaks at LoC
       Tee Morris, author of Morevi, speaks on "Alternative Myths,
       Religions, and Societies Used in Science Fiction and Fantasy"
       at the Library of Congress, Madison Building, 3rd floor,
       Pickford Theater, at 12:10 pm.

Friday, November 29th: Fifth Friday
       WSFA often has a party on months with a fifth Friday. Watch

Thursday, December 5th: DC Transhumanist Dinner
       7 pm at Hamburger Hamlet in Crystal City.

       The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) brings you another
       Balticon!

August 28 - September 1: 61st World SF Convention: Torcon 3
       Toronto hosts the first non-US Worldcon of the new Millennium.

September 19 - 21: Capclave 2003
       WSFA is putting on a convention!

October 30 - November 2: World Fantasy Convention
       WSFA hosts the 29th annual World Fantasy Convention, at the
       Hyatt Regency in Washington DC.

September 2 - 6: 62nd World SF Convention: Noreascon 4
       Back to Boston.

                                 2005

August 4 - 8: 63rd World SF Convention: Interaction
       Glasgow, once more with ceilings.
