I did indeed have to walk in the streets to get from my apartment to
Metro, and from Metro to WSFA. It didn't help that I got lost on the
way and had to backtrack.

I usually get to the Gillilands' by briskly walking directly from
home, which takes just under three hours. I then return via Metro.
To do that, it's a half hour walk to Ballston, then 20 minutes walk
home from Dunn Loring.

I'm out of practice on walking *from* Ballston *to* the Gillilands'.
On checking my records I see that I haven't done so since June of last
year, 18 months ago.

Getting back from the Gillilands' wasn't so bad. For one thing I'm
very much used to going in that direction, and for another there was
very little traffic, so walking in the roads was less difficult.

We got an excellent turnout, including several people who don't
usually show up. However, our secretary, treasurer, and Capclaves
past and present were absent. It was announced that our treasurer
is in San Diego.

Elspeth announced that Capclave '03 is considering the hotel in New
Carrollton. I don't think she was joking.

I'm pleased to hear you're enjoying 29 Celsius weather (which is
actually 84 Fahrenheit, not 83). I'm back in my apartment, where
I'm enjoying 32 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit). I'm tempted to stay here
until Spring.
