I was just remarking on how short a time it was from submission to
being in bookstores.

We has a similar thread a year ago, with his previous novel, but this
list has some new subscribers since then.

He has more only if you count the ghost-written Op Center books (which
I find unreadable).

I look forward to buying and reading his latest book. In paperback.
Used.

Speaking of violent stories, I just saw Terminator 3. It's even
more violent than Terminator 2. It also has lots of humor. Many
scenes from T2 are parodied. For instance the one where a naked
Schwarzenegger obtains clothes and sunglasses.

It was also fun seeing Kristanna Loken (an evil terminator) pick up a
cell phone, dial a modem number, and start speaking modem tones to it.
I wish I could do that.

I see that Lee Strong wrote a review of T2 for The WSFA Journal. It's
online at http://wsfa.org/journal/j91/8/index.htm#t2. I haven't yet
worked my way back to the Journals that might contain a review of the
original Terminator movie.

T2 won the Hugo. I think T3 might do the same.

I paid for the movie entirely with quarters, since I'd spent nearly
all my folding money to stock up on farecards before the 10% bonus
went away, and the last bit of it on groceries, then found the local
ATM to be out of order. Fortunately there's another ATM directly on
the way to First Friday. (Of course I could use another bank's ATM,
but then I'd have to pay a penalty.)

See you all on Friday.
