I arrived at about 5 pm, to help unload the truck. The truck arrived promptly at 8:30. It wasn't empty yet when I had to leave at 11:30 to catch the last Metro. I think the truck may have contained more books than I own. Boxes of books were being moved from the truck onto carts and hand trucks at a rate of one every few seconds, for three hours. Some were freebies, others were for the dealer room. There were also tons of steel pipes, pegboard, and other material for the art show, which had to come off the truck. Shortly before the truck arrived, another truck arrived and parked in such a way as to block all three loading dock bays. Fortunately, the hotel people were helpful, and convinced that truck's driver to park across the street. The only downside is it appears to be impossible to get from the lobby and function space areas to the con suite and party floor, except by elevator. And the elevators are amazingly slow, even with almost nobody there yet. Also, there are at least two towers, each with its own elevator bank, so if you aren't careful you're likely to find yourself in the wrong one. The con suite is on the 3rd floor of the higher-numbered tower, so presumably that's also the party floor. Unfortunately, mundanes have been booked into rooms on that floor, and WSFAns who volunteered to take rooms on that floor have been booked elsewhere. I hope there's still time to sort things out. -- Keith F.
