Saturday, February 21st: Sheree R. Thomas signing
     Sheree R. Thomas discusses and signs her latest anthology, Dark
     Matter: Reading the Bones at 5 pm at Sisterspace & Books, 1515
     U Street NW, within two blocks of the U Street/African-Amer
     Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Metro station on the Green Line.

Saturday, February 21st: Dinner with Dr. James Hughes
     The DC Transhumanists will be dining with Dr. James Hughes,
     author of the forthcoming Cyborg Democracy: Free, Equal and
     United in a Posthuman World, at Senators Sports Bar and Grille
     at 415 New Jersey Ave., NW (located in the Capitol Hill Holiday
     Inn), three blocks from the Union Station Metro station, at 8
     pm. All are invited. Please RSVP to chris529 at hotpop.com.

Friday, February 27th: Anne Lane Sheldon speaks at LoC
     Anne Lane Sheldon, author of Hero-Surfing, presents "Slipstream
     Stories in Verse, or, Can a Vampire Poet Pass for a Magical
     Realist?" at the Library of Congress at the Madison Building,
     Dining Room A, 6th floor, at 1:00 pm. Open to the public. No
     reservation needed.

February 27 - 29: Shevacon
     A "Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, & Gaming Convention" in
     Roanoke Virginia.

Sunday, February 29th: Winterfest
     Winterfest is an annual electronic flea market, concentrating
     on ham radio and computer hardware, mostly used. In Annandale.
     Show up before noon.

Thursday, March 4th: DC Transhumanist Dinner
     7 pm at Hamburger Hamlet in Crystal City.

March 5 - March 7: Washington Antiquarian Book Fair
     At the Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge, Arlington VA.

Friday, March 5th: WSFA First Friday Meeting
     Regular WSFA meeting (at the Gillilands' as usual). Newcomers

Monday, March 15th: B&N SF Book Group
     The Barnes and Noble Potomac Yards SF Book Group discusses Neil
     Gaiman's American Gods starting at 8:30 pm. 3651 Jefferson
     Davis Hwy, Alexandria, VA.

     A convention in Blacksburg, Virginia.

     In Rye, New York.

     Also Retro-Hugo deadline. Nominations must be received, not

May 28 - 31: Balticon 38
     The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) brings you another
     Balticon!

Tuesday, June 8th: Transit of Venus
     The planet Venus gets between us and the sun, for the first
     time in 122 years. Visible at sunrise. Use eye protection.

June 11 - 13: Conterpoint 2004
     A filk convention in Rockville Maryland.

Wednesday, June 16th: Bloomsday Centennial
     One hundred years since the events of James Joyce's Ulysses.

Monday, June 21st: History is rewound
     History is rewound to February 1987, to undo a terrible
     disaster, according to John Cramer's novel Einstein's Bridge.

September 2 - 6: 62nd World SF Convention: Noreascon 4
     Back to Boston.

October 15 - 17: Capclave 2004
     WSFA is putting on a convention! At Tysons Corner, VA.

December 3 - 5: SMOFcon
     WSFA is hosting 2004's SMOFcon, in Washington DC.

                               2005

August 4 - 8: 63rd World SF Convention: Interaction
     Glasgow, once more with ceiling.

September 1 - 5: CascadiaCon
     The 2005 NASFiC, near Seattle.

October 14 - 16: Capclave 2005
     WSFA is putting on a convention! At Tysons Corner, VA. (Date
     and location subject to change.)

                               2006

August 23 - 27: 64th World SF Convention: L.A.con IV
     Anaheim California, same place as the 1996 Worldcon and the
     1999 NASFiC.

                               2008

Friday, February 29th: Datclave II
     Location TBA. WSFA hosts Datclave whenever a February has a
     fifth Friday. The previous one was in 1980.
