I compensated for it by sending zero copies of my next two postings.
So everyone should be even, now.

No, seriously, one other person reported the same problem: Eric, who
is also on Cox. After confirming that there was only one copy of my
message in the log on Panix, and only one copy in my old MIT guest
account (which I have always had subscribed to the list as a test and
as a backup log), and that Eric is only subscribed to the list once,
I asked him to email me the complete headers of all three messages.
He did so, and I see that they're absolutely identical except for the
parts internal to Cox. Also, Mike Walsh said he only got one copy.
So I conclude that the problem is probably internal to Cox.

Please tell me if it happens again. I'll be sure to email you the
appropriate number of delete characters and line starves to backspace
over the duplicate messages. (A "line starve" is the opposite of a
"line feed". It makes the cursor go up a line.)
