Subject: [WSFA] Fifth Friday, First Friday, Third Friday
Reply-To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org>

Fifth Friday, April 30th, will be at Larry Pfeffer's in Gaithersburg.
Direction are appended.

First Friday, May 7th, will be at the Gillilands', as usual. This will
be our annual election meeting. Be there if you want to nominate or vote.

Third Friday, May 21st, will be at the Madigans' in Greenbelt, NOT at
the Ginters'. Directions at http://www.wsfa.org/directions.madigan.htm
mirrored at http://keithlynch.net/wsfa/directions.madigan.htm

See our calendar of upcoming events, http://www.wsfa.org/calendar.htm,
mirrored at http://keithlynch.net/wsfa/calendar.htm, for these and
other events. Please recheck that calendar before each event in case
of any last-minute changes.

In other news that those of you not on the regular WSFA list may have
missed:

* The Hugo and Retro-Hugo nominees have been announced. See
  http://noreascon.org/pubs/press-release18.html

* The Nebula winners have been announced. See
  http://www.sfwa.org/awards/2004/nebwinners2003.html

* Now that I've moved wsfa.org to Panix, at wsfa.org email addresses are
available to all WSFA members who want one. Also, addresses such
as president at wsfa.org, treasurer at wsfa.org, etc., should do the right
thing. Also, the email list is at WSFAlist at wsfa.org. (The old
address will also still work.) Email me for details.

Here are directions to Fifth Friday. (Note that this is *not* this
coming Friday. Please don't show up a week early.)

14916 Joshua Tree Road,
North Potomac, MD 20878
(301) 315-8863
lpfeffer at verizon.net

Directions from I-270:

>From 270S, exit at Sam Eig.

>From 270N, Exit 270 onto the Sam Eig/I370 interchange. You want Sam
Eig (=West) Slightly-tricky-off ramp warning: Approaching the off
ramp, you want to be in the next-to-rightmost local lane, 2 lanes exit
to the right, these divide *immediately* after this. The Westbound
traffic (you), splits off to the left, and arcs back over I270.

Go straight through 2 lights (Fields, then Diamondback), Then get
into the right lane. Turn right (onto Great Seneca Hwy.) but
*IMMEDIATELY* get into the left turn lane, and turn left onto Muddy
Branch Rd. Go through the next light (~3/4 mile), crossing Route
28/Darnestown Rd.

Get into the left lane, to avoid a right-turn only lane. Pass that
acute right. As you come up a gentle slope, slow down and look for
Dufief Dr. on your right. Turn right. Follow Dufief Dr until you've
gone over 2 speed bumps. After the second bump, turn right onto
Joshua Tree Road. The house is the 4th on the left; the address is
on the Mailbox' vertical support.

If you can, please bring folding chairs, so we can all sit at once.

By bus:

The 56 Ride-On buses leave the Rockville Metro Station at 7:24 pm,
7:54, 8:24, 8:59, 9:34, and 10:21. After a ride of about 15 minutes,
exit at the corner of Darnestown Road and Muddy Branch Road. Walk
half a mile south (left) on Muddy Branch Road, turn right on Dufief
Drive, then after a quarter mile turn right on Joshua Tree Road. The
house is the 4th on the left; the address is on the Mailbox' vertical
support. Unfortunately, the last bus going in the return direction
leaves the area at 9:40 pm, but you can probably catch a ride with
someone. All Metro stations remain open in all directions until 2:30
am Friday night (i.e. Saturday Morning), some even later.

The 56 bus schedule can be found at:

http://montgomerycountymd.gov/content/dpwt/transit/routesandschedules/allroutes/route_schedules/route56.asp?sched=weekday&RouteName=56

(If that URL gets split across two lines, please glue it back together
again before using it.)

Larry hasn't said when to show up, so I'm assuming it's about the same
time as for a regular meeting -- no earlier than 8:30 pm.

I look forward to seeing you there on April 30th. And at the
Gillilands' on May 7th, and at the Madigans' (not the Ginters'!)
on May 21st.
